Locomotive’s 1910 Wreckage Found In Lake Superior

History down under the waters of Lake Superior has been located about five miles away from Marathon, Ontario.

It’s a steam locomotive that jumped its tracks in 1910 after hitting a fallen boulder, according to underwater researcher Tom Crossman.

Crossman is the man behind the remotely operating vehicle that located the wreckage with a camera and sonar equipment attached.

Crossman is continuing to search the bottom of Lake Superior to try to find the locomotive’s bell.

He hopes to eventually bring the wreckage to a museum in Ontario.
