Bucktales returns as El Jefe

SUPERIOR, Wis. — A beloved local restaurant is back in business, at their original location in Superior. El Jefe, previously known as Bucktales, has returned, in its previous Pattinson Park location.

In 2022, they moved into the former Shorty’s Pizza location, but they closed last summer due to staffing issues and the size of the space they were operating in.

El Jefe features a slightly different menu than Bucktales. This time around, El Jefe is rolling out smash burgers and a kids menu, among other items, all while keeping some traditional Mexican flair.

Owner Dee Morales said that he’s happy to be back in business at his old location, which he is currently leasing.

“Everybody’s been really welcome to me to be back,” said Morales. “Everybody’s been receiving the new items, and doing different things, you know, that we do. People around this area like a small place, when everybody’s kind of together, kind of a Wisconsin dive bar, you know. But I like it, because a lot of people can come in, like a group of ladies, and nobody’s gonna bother them. They can come in families with kids, and they’re fine, you know.”

El Jefe reopened in October of last year. They are open Wednesday through Saturday until 9 p.m., and Sunday’s until 7 p.m.
