UMD Men’s Basketball Back at Home After Three-Game Road Trip

The Bulldogs are 13-7 on the season.

DULUTH, Minn.- After a three-game road trip, the UMD men’s basketball team is back at Romano Gymnasium this Saturday as they welcome in 16-5 Concordia-St. Paul.

The Bulldogs will look to break a two-game skid after dropping their last two contests to Minot and Winona.

No easy task on Saturday as the Golden Bears sit in third place in the NSIC conference.

The Bulldogs and the Golden Bears faced off earlier this season where Concordia won 93-89.

For the Bulldogs, they’ll look to put together a full forty minutes against a tough conference opponent.

“We are just kind of moving on to the next one. Every game that we are playing right now is tough, and we are close, I said that earlier in the year. We finally broke through for a while. For us it’s about putting forty minutes together. We’ve been putting twenty-five, thirty, thirty-five minutes together. But trying to put forty minutes together in this league is tough and that’s what we are trying to do right now,” said UMD head coach Justin Wieck.

The Bulldogs have defended their home court this season as UMD is currently 10-1 at Romano.

But the Bulldogs understand that playing at home doesn’t guarantee a victory.

“The crowd has helped us; are students are here on campus. It’s going to be nice to play four or five of our next six games at home here. But it also doesn’t guarantee that you are going to win either. It’s about trying to play with a little bit better toughness and mentality and a little bit better IQ and trying to learn from these last two games on the road,” said Wieck.

The Bulldogs and the Golden Bears face-off on Saturday.

Tip-off is at 1 p.m.
