Woman Charged for Hit and Run in Duluth

DULUTH, Minn. – Police arrested a woman for a hit and run that occurred last week in Duluth and sent a woman to the hospital.

Brittney Elizabeth Johnson-Hamilton, 39, of Duluth was charged for last Tuesday’s hit and run at the intersection of North 12th Ave East and 2nd Ave East.

According to the police report, a witness told officers they saw a red pickup “turn left on North 12th Ave East” and then hit the 20-year-old victim who was in the crosswalk. The witness reported the truck drove over the victim.

Police were told by the victim that she thought the driver was a female.

When reviewing surveillance camera footage, officers identified the license plate number of the suspected red 2001 Ford F-250.

The vehicle was located at an address linked to the registered owner, which, according to the report, was roughly three blocks from the scene.

Authorities spoke with the owner and his girlfriend, later identified as Hamilton, on January 31. The report alleges that Hamilton initially stated she was out driving at the time, though “she did not remember hitting anyone.” She then told officers she “was going to call after the incident but was in shock.”

According to police, Hamilton’s license was revoked at the time of the incident. She could face more than four years if convicted on all charges.
