Can of Worms or Twin Ports Interchange Update
MnDOT has completed some traffic counting and waste assessments in preparation of the Twin Ports Interchange project.
Even after it was announced that the Can of Worms project or Twin Ports Intercange had hit a speed bump, the project is still rolling forward.
Last month, MnDOT reported that they weren’t the recipients of Fastlane funds that were needed for construction to begin.
However, they are still moving forward with a lot of data analysis including mobile map scanning, wetland delineation, waste assessments, and traffic counting.
They say that although the roadways are safe to drive on, they are getting close to the end of their useful life.
“All of this data and this public input is needed to make the best possible project to ensure that this new project which will have a 75 year life will meet the test of time and meet the community’s needs,” said Roberta Dwyer, project manager.
MnDOT hopes in the next month to look at any noise issues and have initial concept designs completed.
Next month’s meeting will be held again at the Harrison Center in Duluth on September 19th from 5-6 p.m.
