Friday Evening Northland Forecast: 2/14/2025

Warmer Temps & Light Snow

We have had below normal high temps every day, since February 2nd. That’s 12 straight days below average high temps. And many of those days, we have been way below normal! We even had a frigid overnight low in Duluth of -26 degrees, just two mornings ago, on February 12th. Even though we will warm up toward 20 tomorrow, it still doesn’t look like we will hit our normal high temp of 24 degrees until at least next Friday or Saturday. So, our cold stretch of days should extend to 19 or 20 days below normal, before we finally warm up to the average high temp next Saturday (which will be 27 degrees by then). So, it has been a very cold and very dry month.

However, we do expect to see a little bit of snow overnight tonight. Maybe 2-3″ in Duluth, and possibly up to 3-4″ on the Wisconsin side of the viewing area. That’s why we have a Winter Weather Advisory overnight, but mainly just in Wisconsin. Drive a little more slowly, and you should be okay. Again, we look to warm up to about 20 degrees on Saturday, but then, the next blast of cold high pressure knocks us right down to a high of 8 on Sunday. Starting Monday, our highs will be: 0, 5, 8 and 18. Our low temps will be subzero, Sunday through Wednesday mornings. Finally, by Thursday, we will shoot for a high of 18. That’ll still be below normal, but heading in the right direction. By either Friday or Saturday, I believe we will finally hit our normal daily high temp (27 on Saturday) and we might even stay there for awhile, as we will be on the back side of a high pressure system, and should have winds from the south and southwest for a few days.

As far as snowfall, as of today, we are still -25.3″ below normal for the season. That doesn’t count any new snow we’ll get overnight tonight or tomorrow. I’d love to see us get 6″ of snow over the next couple days, and get that deficit below 20 inches, but that’s just wishful thinking. But we all know that March can be very snowy, and we even see occasional snow in April and May. So, I’m not giving up on getting a decent snowfall total for this season, yet!

Have a great weekend!
