FOX 21 Takes The Duluth Polar Plunge, Raises Nearly $5K For Special Olympics
DULUTH, Minn. — FOX 21 was the proud television sponsor of this weekend’s Duluth Polar Plunge, and some of our team members took the frigid jump for the cause.
The FOX 21 Team, including Dan Hanger, Emily Halling, Maria Vollom and general manager Erik Hayes, helped raise nearly $5,000 for Special Olympics Minnesota.
Nearly 700 brave souls registered for this year’s Duluth Polar Plunge at the end of Park Point in the Superior Bay, raising $143,000.
In the plunge’s 25-year history, locals have raised more than $3 million for the cause.
The Duluth Police Department organizes the plunge every year, and the St. Louis County Rescue Squad is always suited up in the water to help plungers gain their composure and get out of the cold water.
