Children on Autism Spectrum Embrace their Creativity
Islands of Brilliance
For the first time ever, children on the Autism Spectrum from Duluth and around the Northland got a chance to get creative at HTK Marketing Communications.
The workshop is called Islands of Brilliance and matches people between the ages of 8 and 19 with designers and art directors.
They create a poster that creatively reflects their unique interests.
“What we’re finding is, if you let kids be who they are, and give them a channel, you know the technology, and let them be pure creativity, you see they will inspire the mentors, which is really cool,” said Margaret Fairbanks with Islands of Brilliance.
The workshop runs through Friday with a morning session from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. and an afternoon session from 12 to 1:15 p.m.
