UMD Men’s Hockey Hits Road for Bout with #17 North Dakota
The Fighting Hawks previously swept the Bulldogs in a series back in November.
DULUTH, Minn.- The UMD men’s hockey team has started to gain some momentum after winning one game and tying the other against 10th ranked Arizona State over the weekend.
Now, they shift their eyes towards a 17th ranked North Dakota squad that earlier in the year got the best of the Bulldogs with a two-game sweep at Amsoil.
Head Coach Scott Sandelin says his team and the Fighting Hawks are very similar when it comes to game planning. He added that North Dakota always makes you work especially on their home ice.
“Every time you play them, you’re fighting for inches on the rink. It can get physical and it can get, there’s just not a lot of room and it comes down to that winning the battles and the high compete level,” said Sandelin.
“The preparation is just kind of focusing on ourselves, mostly on our team. I mean we’ll do a little bit of film on the other teams as the games get near. But, I think in terms of preparation for our practices during the week, we’re more so focused on ourselves,” added defenseman Owen Gallatin.
UMD will aim to snap a two-year winless drought against North Dakota Friday at 7:07 pm.
