UMAC Conference Comments on Northland College’s Future Departure

The UMAC will be proceeding as a seven-member conference in the 2025-2026 season.

ASHLAND, Wis.- It was announced on Wednesday that Northland College in Ashland will be closing it’s doors following the 2024-2025 academic year.

As a result, 14 sports programs are impacted with the decision.

The Lumberjacks and Lumberjills are members of either the UMAC or WIAC conference.

The UMAC released a statement saying that the announcement comes with great sadness. They also thanked Northland for three great decades as a member.

Remaining conference members are now engaging in contingency plans for next season with the UMAC now being a seven-member conference.

The WIAC has yet to release a statement.
