Northern Star: Trent Beseth
Beseth has been named MIAC athlete of the week five times this season.
DULUTH, Minn.-The CSS senior thrower Trent Beseth has made his mark in the national standings.
As he is currently ranked second in the nation for division III indoor shot put with a distance of 17.57 meters.
During Beseth’s time at CSS, Track and Field wasn’t the initial sport he was recruited for.
“He didn’t originally join the track and field team out of high school; he was a football player. They essentially did the work to kind of convince him to come up here to go to college,” said CSS head track and field coach Todd Bouchie. “I didn’t even plan on doing track at all. I was fully on football,” said Trent Beseth.
After leaving the CSS football team his freshman year.
Beseth has seen successful results at the college level for track and field.
But those results didn’t come without dedication to his craft.
“I review a lot of very talented throwers. I watch their film and look at their technique and see how they move. I kind of visualize myself doing those movements,” said Beseth.
” He’ll talk about throwing videos that he has watched whether professional throwers or drills that he watched. He probably spends more time doing that then, probably just any thrower I have ever coached,” said Bouchie.
After being successful in the MIAC conference during Beseth’s career.
He’s now throwing towards a new goal.
“For me it’s more building up to nationals. Conference is cool, but obviously I would rather be a national champion,” said Beseth.
