WCHA Final Faceoff Held at AMSOIL Arena

DULUTH, Minn. — AMSOIL Arena is the home of another popular hockey tournament this weekend, as the puck drops on the 2025 WCHA Final Faceoff.

Four women’s hockey teams are facing off, including the Minnesota Gophers and Duluth’s very own Bulldogs.

AMSOIL is hosting the tournament for the first time and over a decade, and fans from all over the region are flocking to Duluth to cheer on their team.

AMSOIL Arena even underwent some changes to prepare for the tournament, as the teams logos are now displayed along the boards.

“It’s not real often we get these National tournaments like this, we had the Frozen 4 a few years ago, we were pretty excited about that, and I hope we get that one back again, but this one hasn’t been here since 2012. And so a lot of people are just excited for us as a community to host it,” Dan Hartman, DECC Executive Director said. “And I think Duluth has a legacy of being a hockey town, so you just see that excitement around the community for this to take shape.”

The final two teams will battle for the WCHA Championship Saturday at 2 p.m.

The winner receives an automatic bid into the NCAA Women’s Ice Hockey Championship.
