After 2 Years on the Run, Man Accused of Sex Crime is Back in Minnesota to Face Charge

DULUTH, Minn. – A man charged with sexual assault in Minnesota was arrested by U.S. Marshals in Maine, after spending two years on the run.

After spending over two years on the run, 42-year-old Samuel Adam Linkert is back in Minnesota. Linkert is charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct stemming from an alleged assault that occurred at a Duluth residence in 2010. Court records show charges weren’t filed against Linkert until May of 2022.

On Dec. 13, 2022, a bench warrant was issued for Linkert due to his failure to appear at a court date. Records on Linkert are sparse during his time on the run.

Then on Feb. 26, 2025 U.S. Marshals in the Maine District announced they had taken Linkert in custody. A press release about the arrest said “investigators developed information that Linkert was currently residing in Maine.” Marshals said agencies from both states assisted in finding Linkert.

Linkert’s first hearing back in a St. Louis County courtroom was uneventful on Wednesday, with the judge granting him a public defender and attempting to move the case forward.
