Cloquet High School and Middle School Evacuated After Alleged ‘Swatting’ Call, CPD
CLOQUET, Minn. – Cloquet Police say they received a call reporting a bomb and a person with a gun outside of the high school but have since given the ‘all clear.’
Around 12:16 p.m. today, a call came into Carlton County dispatchers reporting a bomb and a person with a rifle at Cloquet High School. According to a press release from Cloquet Police, responding officers and an onsite school resource officer checked the area, but “found no evidence to support the reported threat.”
The Cloquet High School and Middle School were both evacuated to designated sites. Police then swept the buildings using a bomb detection dog, which “did not indicate the presence of any explosives.”
Following the sweep, Cloquet Police gave the “all clear,” allowing students back into the schools. School officials allowed parents to pick up students at the evacuation sites or from the schools during regular dismissal.
Cloquet Police said they believe “this incident is a swatting hoax and that there was no real threat.”
