Friday Evening Northland Forecast: 3/14/2025

A Windy Weekend

Most of the western half of Minnesota is under either a Winter Storm Warning or a Blizzard Warning for most of Saturday. The Blizzard Warning is for southwest Minnesota from 4am to 7pm on Saturday, for winds of 50mph, and up to 9″ of snow. The Winter Storm Warning is for northwest Minnesota from 7am to 7pm Saturday, for 3 to 7 inches of snow, and winds up to 30mph. Whiteout conditions in rural areas will make travel almost impossible. In the eastern half of the state, we are looking for showers and possible thunderstorms, beginning late Friday night, with winds from the SE, turning to the NW Saturday afternoon, and increasing up to 35mph. Some of the rain may turn to light snow Saturday afternoon, but it should be a half inch or less.

Saturday night will be windy and cold, with NW winds 25-40mph, and a low of 15 degrees. Sunday will be mostly sunny and still windy, with NW winds 15-30, and a high of 34. The normal high for this weekend is 36. Next week looks windy every day, with high temps from the mid 30s to the mid 40s, and a chance for a few inches of snow Tuesday night into Wednesday. Thursday, Astronomical Spring arrives (Vernal Equinox), when we will have sunny skies, windy conditions, and a high of 35. The first full day of Spring, Friday, will be sunny with a high of 42.

Have a great weekend, and if you want to experience a blizzard, just drive south and west about 3 hours!
