2nd Annual ‘Cheerio Challenge’ Underway

DULUTH, Minn.– After the success from last year’s ‘Cheerio Challenge’ in Duluth, the fundraiser is going back for seconds!

Last year this fundraiser collected an impressive 800 boxes of cereal and 50-thousand dollars for the community.

The idea sparked following negative comments from Kathy Cargill.

She’s a billionaire who purchased multiple properties on Park Point, calling Duluth “small minded”.

But for this year’s ‘Cheerio Challenge’ the organizers are focusing on keeping the ball rolling and seeing that camaraderie for donations.

They’re looking for cash donations, nonperishable donations, and of course Cheerios.

“Even though we don’t have the sense of urgency with the negative comment that was made last year, there’s still a lot of need in the community. Last year we reported that CHUM distributes 800 boxes of cereal every month. It’s actually around 1,300 now. So, the need has actually grown in the last year,” said Chad McKenna, the Organizer of the “Cheerio Challenge”

This year’s Cheerio Challenge also involves an incentive.

On Tuesday March 25th, if you donate 25 dollars alongside other goods, you can earn a tee shirt!

Otherwise, you can drop off any donations at the Duluth Labor Temple until March 28th from 8 AM to 5 PM.
