Duluth City Council Approves Task Force to Look at Sick and Safe Time

The council approved the creation of a task force that would gather information on the issue.

Many concerned citizens filled the Duluth City Council Chambers over earned sick and safe time.

The council approved the creation of a task force that would gather information on the issue.

The task force would take a three-phase approach.

They would first look and see at what the current policies are. Then they would take public comment and then would be to refine the options and make a recommendation on the issue.

“It also sends a message to them that their path towards healing and justice should not come at a financial cost to them and their families. It lets them know that they are believed and it gives them back some control over their lives,” said one concerned citizen who is in favor of the issue.

Some businesses that spoke before the council feared such an ordinance could hurt their bottom line.
