Duluth’s Authentic Art Deco West Theatre Adding More Concerts, Blockbuster Movies This Summer

DULUTH, Minn. — The West Theatre in Duluth is welcoming back more musical acts this summer.

The restored Art Deco theatre from the 1930s, which underwent a $1.5 million renovation in recent years, shut down for awhile during the pandemic, but then re-opened with movies and concerts.

This Thursday, a John Denver cover band will be playing there, and then during the first week of June, the band Sound Inc. will celebrate its 50th anniversary of one of its songs going #1 on the local charts for weeks in the Twin Ports.

You can also expect Hollywood’s summer and fall blockbuster movies to play on-screen there.

The owners says it’s been amazing to hear his theatre filled up with life again.

“It’s a wonderful feeling,” owner Bob Boone exclaimed. “We’ve had some kids’ shows and it’s great to see kids running around fanatically having fun, spilling popcorn everywhere, and I love it, I have fun seeing it.”

The theatre has a state-of-the-art HVAC system to keep air filtered and clean, and it’s going to keep groups spaced out and still require masks and temperature checks for a little while longer.

You can book your tickets for upcoming concerts and movies on the West Theatre’s website.
