Multi-Million Dollar Project Doesn't Have Enough Funding

The Minnesota Department of Transportation applied for the U.S. Department of Transportation Fast Lane Grant in hopes of having it help pay for a multi-million dollar reconstruction project on a portion of highway called the Twin Ports Interchange.

MnDot requested around 90 to a 120 million dollars in their grant application for the Twin Ports Interchange project. From the 212 applicants of the federal grant, 18 projects were chosen, but the Twin Ports Interchange was not one of them.  MnDot representatives say they plan to apply for the grant again in 2017.

The Fast lane grant provides funding for projects that address major issues facing our nation’s highways and bridges, and will supply 4.5 billion dollars to the programs over five years from 2016 to 2020.

A meeting for the Twin Ports Interchange Project will be held on M0onday from 5 to 6 pm, at the Harrison Community Center.
