Couple to Get Married at Duluth Kennel Club’s Dog Show
Couple met at a dog show, became engaged at a show, and now will be married at the dog show on Saturday.
Over 150 breeds of dogs are competing for the best of show at the Duluth Kennel Club’s annual show.
Cartrell Cooper and his dog Cooper put their best paws forward in preparations for the show.
“Preparation for a show begins actually months in advance,” said Cooper.
Cartrell Cooper even met his fiance at a dog show a few years ago.
“You get to meet people that you might not get to meet otherwise because from all walks of life enjoy dogs and coming together,” said Carolyn Lichty, chairman of the Duluth Kennel Club.
Cartrell proposed to his fiance at a dog show and now will say I do at one as well.
“Most of our friends and clients do dog shows every weekend so if we were to get married on a weekend, they wouldn’t be able to come so if we pick a dog show they’re already here,” said Cooper.
The Duluth Kennel Club has been around since 1945.
“There’s a lot to know about this sport and really it takes a lot of years to know to get to the point of being able to consistently produce good dogs time after time,” said Lichty.
Each competitor tries their best in front of the judge’s watchful eye.
“I go and watch a judge ahead of time to see what they’re actually trying to pick in the ring whether it be a movement judge whether they’re watching side gazing as the dog goes around,” said Cooper.
At the show on Saturday, many of these dogs will have their day. Sandra and Cartrell will celebrate their puppy love.
“Come out and join the festivities with us,” said Cooper.
