Drug Bust in Hibbing Nabs Re-Offender on Probation, Charges State
HIBBING, Minn. – Man sentenced to probation in February for selling cocaine, was arrested in a Hibbing drug bust on Friday.
St. Louis County Sheriffs arrested 56-year-old Larry Connail Wilkins at his apartment in Hibbing last Friday. The arrest during a search of the apartment found a digital scale, psilocybin mushrooms, “107 grams of cocaine,” and roughly $8,000 in cash, according to the sheriff’s office. Wilkins was charged on Monday 1st degree sale of cocaine and 5th-degree possession.
Wilkins was on probation at the time of his arrest for pleading guilty to 2nd-degree sale of cocaine in February. Court records show that an undercover officer contacted Wilkins over Facebook Messenger in late 2024 to purchase 3.5 grams of cocaine and then apprehended him when conducting the sale in his apartment.
Local law enforcement reportedly received multiple tips that Wilkins was continuing to sell cocaine while on probation. On Mar. 28, probation officers called Wilkins in “for failing to complete a court-ordered assessment “before then escorting him back to his apartment, according to the criminal complaint.
Members of the Lake Superior Violent Offender Task Force met probation officers at the apartment, where Wilkins’ friend answered the door. During a search of the apartment, officers reportedly found a pair of pants that “contained a large amount of white powder shaped in a brick, which was held in a sandwich-sized baggie.” Wilkins was found with $4,261 on his person and “a large amount of cash in the closet” of his bedroom.
Wilkins is currently logged in the St. Louis County Jail.
