St. Scholastica Football Begins Spring Slate Under New Head Coach Matt Bremer
Bremer was named the Saints head coach on March 4th.
DULUTH, Minn.- Back on March 4th, St. Scholastica named Matt Bremer as the 4th head football coach in program history.
Fast forward to now, and he’s already preparing his team for the upcoming 2025 fall season.
The Saints marched on to the practice field for their 2nd spring training session Tuesday afternoon.
They’re set to have a total of 15 spring practices over the course of the month of April.
Bremer, who inherits a Saints squad that went 4-6 a year ago, says these off-season sessions are all about competing.
“I think we’re finally at a spot in our program where we can talk about winning, talk about what does that mean, talk about how do we get there. We just left our team meeting and we talked about our three core tenants. Which are explosive plays, turnovers and money downs, which are 3rd and 4th downs for us and how we’re going to be really great in those situations,” said Bremer.
Bremer will rely on players such as quarterback Donald West, who will enter his 4th straight year as the starter.
“They’ve been smoothly. The guys took the change and ran with it. It wasn’t as much change, it was just a different face. I mean all the core things that we still stand by are still what we go by today. We just still try to enstill those things everyday and work by them and stay by the same process and just go along with it. Coach Bremer is just running that show and the same guys are out here trying to do what we do,” added West.
St. Scholastica’s final spring practice is scheduled for April 26th.
