Morgan’s Flight: 19-Year Old Celebrates Her Life and Fight with Cancer
Hundreds gather to celebrate the life of Morgan Long who is battling cancer.
Friends and family call nineteen-year-old Morgan Long amazing and one who always puts others first.
So instead of saying goodbye to her, they hosted a party for one of the most charismatic young women around.
Hundreds gathered for the young woman they call Morgs who is entering hospice care. She was diagnosed with cancer at seventeen months old.
“She’s one of those people you just enjoy being around at all times, just puts you in the mood you want to be in,” said her brother Steve Long Jr.
Morgan fought the cancer fiercely for eighteen of her nineteen years.
“I think people need to realize how much she’s actually done even though her time here isn’t that long, she has affected a lot of people,” said her cousin Hannah Toland.
So now even when given the diagnosis that she won’t win this fight, she celebrated like a teenager would with her best friends.
“Anybody who has been touched or been able to feel Morgan’s welcoming spirit has been truly blessed,” said friend Lily Alvarez.
So when art imitates life for the girl whose favorite movie is the Fault in our Stars, they salute their star.
“She wants music, she wants laughter, she wants everybody to celebrate life,” said Sandy Tuhanen.
While the tears may come in the next few weeks and years, Morgan reminds them of her favorite phrase, Hakuna Matata, which means no worries.
“I want people to know just what kind of girl she is and how much we’ll miss her,” said friend Brianna Montgomery.
So as butterflies flew around Morgan’s crowd, they reminded everyone of a life and flight stopped way too soon.
When Morgan was first diagnosed, doctors told her she wouldn’t reach the age of five. She not only surpassed that, but also graduated high school.
