One Man Behind Bars After Making Threats of Violence to Ex-Wife & Kids

SUPERIOR, Wis. — One suspect is in custody after making threatening statements to his ex-wife and kids in Superior.

The Superior Police Department received a call on Monday, April 14, right after 8:30 p.m. from a woman worried about the safety of herself and her kids.

The woman told officers that her ex-husband was calling and texting her making threatening statements. Her ex-husband was alone with their children in the woman’s home with their children.

Officers then began to set-up a perimeter around the residence. As officers moved into position, the man continued to send threatening messages to his ex-wife.

Due to the threats of violence, the Superior Police Department’s Emergency Response Team and Crisis Response Team were called. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office also responded with their Special Response Team.

Through coordinated efforts, the agencies made entry into the home quickly taking the suspect into custody without incident.

The suspect is in custody on three counts of felony bail jumping, two counts of misdemeanor bail jumping, two counts of Domestic Abuse/Disorderly Conduct, one count of Domestic Abuse/Intimidation of a Victim/Dissuade a Victim from Reporting, and one count of Domestic Abuse/Intimidation of a Victim by Threat of Use of Force.

The suspect also had two extraditable warrants for his arrest and is scheduled for an initial court appearance on Tuesday, April 15.

Fox21 does not normally name suspects until they are formally charged in court.
