Northern Star: Brett Kurth

Kurth is one of the captains for the Duluth Wolfpack.

DULUTH, Minn.- The game of Lacrosse has been described as a mix of soccer and hockey. That takes many different athletic skills.

For Duluth Wolfpack Senior Brett Kurth, he has worked all off-season on his lacrosse craft.

“He’s really put in some effort this off-season and kind of taken his work ethic and putting in focus into his athleticism, said head coach Scott Wishart. “I think that has built into his confidence for him as a lacrosse player on the field, with his dodging ability and shooting ability,” added Wishart.

With lacrosse being a mix of several different sports, Kurth has used skills he learned in past sports he has played in to succeed on the lacrosse field.

“Definitely the stick skill part of it in hockey has helped me alot, not skating. Like running I definitely had to get better at and practice that.” said Kurth.

But what stands out about Kurth compared to other athletes is..

“His constant I guess work ethic, where he is trying to get a little better. Even as a senior, a lot of times you know seniors can have a plateau as they come up through the ranks. I think Brett has actually continued to grow this year,” said Wishart.

And in Kurth’s final season with the Wolfpack he will work to…

“Win a section championship for these boys. I owe it to them. Even though I’m about to graduate I just want to give it my all for my last year,” said Kurth.

The Wolfpack will next host Chisago Lakes on Thursday night at 7 PM.
