5 Killed, 6 Injured In Minneapolis Shootings; Indigenous Communities On Edge

(FOX21/FOX9) Minneapolis police are investigating six shootings that left at least five people dead and another six injured within 24-hours.

The six shootings happened between late Tuesday night and Wednesday evening.

Police said some of the shootings may be tied to gang violence. While law enforcement search for the suspects in the shootings, officers are putting more resources in the area to discourage further violence.

Minneapolis officials said a majority of the victims are from the Indigenous community of the Phillips neighborhood of Minneapolis.

“The message to our native community is that we stand with them. We’re going to do everything possible to bring these perpetrators to justice and to be clear, our city, our police, our entire enterprise will not rest until we get the job done, and we’re going to do it hand in hand with them,” according to Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey.
