Stealth Boys Lacrosse Adjusting to New Head Coach in 2025 Season

The Stealth are 4-4 on the year and 3rd in the standings with only one conference loss.

HERMANTOWN, Minn.- The Hermantown/Proctor boys lacrosse team underwent some change this off-season when longtime assistant coach Steve Lokken took over as the head coach of the program.

One thing that hasn’t changed is the team’s play on the turf as Hermantown/Proctor is still in the hunt for the top spot in the Lake Superior conference.

The Stealth are 4-4 on the year and 3rd in the standings with only one conference loss.

Lokken says after some early seasons struggles, the team is continuing to get better and better each week.

“We have a lot of senior leadership. We have a lot of kids that have experience playing the sport. We’re down a little bit as far as numbers this year. So, first game of the season was a little bit of that conditioning. We were up and let it get away from us. So we sort of righted the ship. We’ve put in work against some good programs and have seen a lot of progress,” said Lokken.

Coach Lokken added that’s he relied on his two captains a lot during the transition.

“They get involved with the young programs, the Arrowhead Titans programs so they’ll go out and coach a little bit or just show up and support the players. They were there after the game yesterday talking with the players, playing catch. Just being good advocates for the sport. So you can’t really ask for a better group of kids team-wide. But it starts with our senior group, senior leadership, captains, everybody,” added Lokken.

A huge game with conferenceimplications awaits the Stealth on Friday as they’ll host Grand Rapids/Greenway at 7 PM.
