Northland, MN — Two major wildfires continue to burn in northeastern Minnesota, prompting evacuations and drawing additional firefighting resources to the region.

As of Wednesday morning, the Jenkins Creek Fire in St. Louis County has grown to 20,593 acres, while the Camp House Fire near Brimson is now reported at 14,979 acres.

The Jenkins Creek Fire ignited Monday, west of Cadotte Lake and about 14 miles southeast of Hoyt Lakes. Residents in its path have been ordered to evacuate to the Friedenberg Township Community Center. No injuries have been reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The Camp House Fire, which began Sunday, is also actively burning in rugged, dry terrain. Like the Jensen Creek Fire, it remains uncontained but has not caused any reported injuries.

Meanwhile, in response to the scale and proximity of the two fires, Minnesota has called in a larger incident management team. This team will take over operations for both the Jenkins Creek and Camp House fires, now being managed together under a single designation: the Brimson Complex.

Authorities continue to urge residents to stay alert, follow all evacuation orders, and keep clear of affected areas for their safety and the safety of emergency personnel.

Further updates will follow as the situation develops.
