First Ever ‘Going Bananas’ Run Happening Soon

DULUTH, Minn. — Coming up on June 7th, Lincoln Park in Duluth will be be experiencing it’s first of a kind ‘banana fun run’.

The idea has been in the works for 4 years now, and it is finally in ‘fruition’.

Over 300 runners have signed up to get suited up as a banana, and run for a good cause.

The 2 mile race will begin at Bent Paddle, and the majority of it takes place on Superior Street.

There’s a unique incentive. One surprise runner will be dressed up as a gorilla and if the banana runners beat him, proceeds will help out project joy.

“We’ve had so many great responses,” said Andrew Weisz, the race organizer and ‘The Big Banana.’ “People are super excited, they’re calling it another Duluth staple. And it’s just one of those whacky things where you can’t really find anywhere. Right now at our current pace, we’re the largest banana run in Minnesota. And if things go well, we’ll be the largest banana run in the world.”

Registration for this event will continue until June 5.

They’re aiming for 200 more bananas to join the bunch.
