Section 7AAA Softball: Cloquet Tops North Branch in High-Scoring Affair, Denfeld Falls in 1st Round

Cloquet advances to the quarterfinals on Thursday and will face Rock Ridge.

CLOQUET, Minn.- The Cloquet softball team opened up postseason play on Tuesday, facing the defending Section 7AAA champions, North Branch.

The Lumberjacks came back from multiple deficits to eventually take down the Vikings, 16 to 13.

Cloquet advances to the quarterfinals on Thursday and will face Rock Ridge. First pitch is at 10 AM.

In other 7AAA first round action, Duluth Denfeld was unable to get the upset against Chisago Lakes, falling 10 to 0.

The Hunters head to the elimination bracket where they will face either Grand Rapids or Hermantown. That contest is 12:15 on Thursday in Cloquet.
