Section 7A & Section 7AAA Baseball Championship Matchups Set

The road to state is nearing a conclusion.

ELY, Minn.- The Section 7A and Section 7AAA baseball championship matchups are officially set.

In 7A, South Ridge will once again compete for the top prize after defeating Ely 7 to 2 in the semifinals on Tuesday.

It’ll be a rematch between the Timberwolves and the Panthers as Ely topped Cherry 7 to 4 in the elimination bracket final.

The championship takes place on Thursday at 4:30 PM at Veteran’s Memorial Park in Ely.

Over in 7AAA, it’ll be Grand Rapids battling Hermantown for a trip to state.

The Hawks defeated Rock Ridge 4-3 in the elimination bracket final on Tuesday to make that happen.

First pitch between Hermantown and Grand Rapids is set for Wednesday at 3 PM in Hibbing.
