United Taconite Fairline Plant Suffers Roof Fire

FORBES, Minn. — A fire broke out at the United Taconite Fairline plant in Forbes on Thursday afternoon.

The call came in around 3:30 p.m.

58 firefighters from 12 departments rushed to the scene.

According to the Virginia Fire Department, the flames were contained to about 1,000 square feet of a building roof.

No one was seriously hurt, but a few firefighters had to treated on-scene for smoke inhalation, while another had an eye injury.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
