United Way Day of Caring – Volunteers Clean Up at Companies to Classrooms
DULUTH, Minn. — Over at Companies to Classrooms, volunteers worked to do some deep cleaning inside and tidying up the garden outside.
Companies to classrooms is a program that takes donations for teachers to shop for their classrooms.
The extra care and cleaning helps make the spot look nicer for the neighborhood and builds connections in the community.
“We’ve seen, like, long term relationships grow out of this, where somebody goes to volunteer and then they’re like, oh, now I’m, like, going to be on their board, or, like, I’m a regular volunteer. And so, I think it just really helps spread awareness for all the different types and variety of nonprofits in our community on the great work they’re doing that people might not even be aware of.” said Zoey Leege, Community Engagement Coordinator for Head of the Lakes United Way.
There were 33 projects and around 300 volunteers across the area.
Some of the other projects include work with the Boys and Girls Club, Duluth Bethel, and Union Gospel Mission.
Even if you missed the Day of caring today, you can still make an impact through volunteering.
Head of the Lakes United Way has a volunteer center on their website.
