Thursday Morning Northland Forecast: 6/12/2025

Back to the 50s

We hit 74 degrees for a high yesterday, and it felt great! Our average high is only 71, so we were just a touch above average…which I always think is good! Except for some Canadian wildfire smoke that came in after noon yesterday, it was a very nice day! Now, we’re going to take a few steps backwards, in the temperature area. We are going to be stuck with three cool days, with highs only in the 50s, largely due to strong east winds off Lake Superior, which will keep our highs in the low to mid 50s thru Saturday. Plus, we likely have a lot of rain on the way, after midnight tonight. And the winds Friday? Well, you’ll notice them, as they will be blasting in from Lake Superior, from the east at 15-30mph on Friday. Uff da!

Today is the transitional day. We will have sunshine this morning, with increasing clouds all day, as a strong low heads right at us, from South Dakota. It will bring copious amounts of rain, beginning late tonight. But, I sure prefer that over the wildfire smoke from Canada. The rain is good. The smoke, not so much. In the Twin Ports, we can expect around a half inch to a full inch of rain over the next 36 hours. It looks like areas to our south could get twice that much. It’s all good, as we are below where we should be, precipitation wise.

After a cloudy, wet and windy day on Friday, the weekend looks half promising. There is a chance for rain on Sunday, but Saturday looks mainly dry. Highs will be in the 50s Saturday, and reaching the mid 60s on Sunday. Monday we get back to the 70s, with a good chance for showers, and we will stay in the 70s for Tuesday and Wednesday, with partly sunny skies.

Enjoy today. Friday is a windy washout!
