Peregrine Falcon Chicks Receive Identification Bands

DULUTH Minn. – Peregrine falcon chicks in Duluth and Cohasset are now sporting identification bands as they gear up to spread their wings.

Seven Peregrine falcon chicks born at Minnesota Power’s Hibbard Renewable Energy Center and Boswell Energy Center were recently named and fitted with identification bands by experts from the Raptor Resource Project and volunteer employees at Minnesota Power. The bands were placed on the chick’s legs to help researchers track the once-endangered species.

Minnesota Power says the young falcons will remain in their nest boxes for a few more weeks, and you can watch them through the falcon cam livestream.
