Terhaar Getting a Jump Start on College Competition with Huskies Stint
In his most recent start, Terhaar hurled six shutout innings to improve to 2-0 on the season.
DULUTH, Minn.- On June 5th, Nick Terhaar wrapped up a impressive career for the Proctor baseball team.
A week later, Terhaar made his Northwoods League debut with the Duluth Huskies.
Since then, the pitcher has proved he belongs with his college competition.
In his most recent start, Terhaar hurled six shutout innings to improve to 2-0 on the season. He’s also had 12 K’s in 15 innings of work this season.
Terhaar says it’s been a bit of a learning curve for him during the first couple of weeks of his Northwoods League career.
“It’s helped me a lot, just to develop as a pitcher. Instead of just in high school, trying to blow it by everybody. I had to actually pitch and compete through all innings and all at bats. So, it’s really helped me grow overall. It’s way harder baseball but even just playing with older people, it’s a lot harder. I’m not the big guy anymore, I’m just a small little kid now. It’s new but it’s been really good for me,” said Terhaar.
Terhaar also added that his teammates have given him a boost of confidence when he’s out on the field.
“Just all the guys being supportive of me, telling me to stay confident and just learning all these small things from everybody has really helped. I’ve really learned a lot and they’ve just helped me through it. They just keep telling me like hey you’re meant to be here, you’re good, we have your back. It’s just been really helpful to get to know everyone and trust my defense. So it’s really nice to play with these older guys because they can hit the ball anywhere and I know it’s just going to be an out,” added Terhaar.
Terhaar and the Huskies host the Badlands Big Sticks on Thursday at 6:35 PM.
