Downtown Duluth Days Kicks Off, Formerly “Sidewalk Days”

DULUTH, Minn. — Downtown Duluth Days, formerly known as Sidewalk Days, has kicked off on Superior St.Downtown Pic

The event is downtown Duluth’s biggest shopping festival of the year. The new name also comes with even more fun, as the festival is expanded and more attractions were added.

This year over 170 vendors line six blocks of Superior St, including nearly 30 food trucks and tents. Many downtown restaurants and businesses are among the returning vendors.

There’s plenty to do, from shopping, playing games and trying out new food.

The event allows people to get outside and enjoy one of Duluth’s busiest areas.

“People come to the area, really gather, enjoy the downtown area, maybe check out businesses they haven’t been to in a while, or find their favorite. And it really just builds community down here,” Kristi Stokes, Downtown Duluth President said.

The fun will continue even after the sun goes down, as one of the new additions this year is a block party Thursday night.

“Tomorrow night is something totally new for us as well, so we have a block party and that is going to be something where it’s a free concert with The Cactus Blossoms as well as Boxcar opening. And that’s just new for us to be able to really say come on, lets rock the block, enjoy the downtown, so enjoy it for downtown Duluth days and downtown Duluth nights,” Stokes said.

Among the returning attractions is the Sidewalk Shuffle 5k, the Classic Car Show and a street dance on Saturday
