Mayor Paine’s response to closure Of CHS Superior Terminal
SUPERIOR, Wis. – Employees at the CHS Superior Terminal told FOX 21 they were notified Thursday that they will be out of a job on September 8, 2025.
A current employee told FOX 21 around 25 people are being terminated.
The grain facility has been operating at 41 Dock since 1936.
The facility is one of the most visible terminals in the Twin Ports, especially for drivers who cross the Blatnik Bridge.
In a statement to FOX21 Superior Mayor Jim Paine said, “I was deeply disappointed to learn of the closure of the CHS dock. While I know that this particular elevator has struggled in recent years and that this closure won’t come as a surprise to many employees, it’s still a major transition that will require significant work in the coming years. Our first priority is helping all affected employees find new work and minimizing the impact of this event. Then we’ll work closely with CHS to ensure they meet all of their commitments to the site and hopefully facilitate a transition to a new operator.”
