Vikings Fullback CJ Ham Returns to Duluth for 6th Annual Youth Football Camp
Hundreds of kids participated in the 6th annual CJ Ham youth football camp at Duluth Denfeld high school.
DULUTH, Minn.- Before beginning his tenth season with the Minnesota Vikings, fullback CJ Ham returned to Duluth for his annual football camp on Saturday.
“It’s always a blessing to be back, to be able to bring this back to the community that has served me for so long. We just love being here. This is obviously home. This field is home, this building is home, this community is truly home,” said Ham.
Hundreds of kids participated in the 6th annual CJ Ham youth football camp at Duluth Denfeld high school.
Young athlete’s grades 1st-9th had the opportunity to work with Ham one-on-one to learn about the game of football.
“I want to expose as many people to the game of football no matter your gender, no matter your age. Just cause this game means so much to me. It’s taught me so much in my life, said Ham.
“Sharing these little nuggets with them on this field means the world.”
One of the lessons Ham shared at the camp was the importance of good character on and off the field.
“There’s so many things that happen within the sport that we can’t control. But the one thing we can control is our character, our attitude, how hard we work, those things are all attainable based upon how we go about it. So just trying to instill in them, Hey, work hard, have a good attitude,” said Ham.
But the lesson the Duluth native wants to pass down to the next generation is to stay true to themselves.
” I want these kids out here to be authentic more than be the star or anything like that. I want them to be real, to know themselves, to love themselves and, just treat people with respect,” said Ham.
