‘DAIP’ Proves Significant Efforts in Solving Violence

DULTUH, Minn.– For over 45 years, the ‘Duluth Domestic Abuse Intervention Programs’ has been a valuable resource for victims of domestic violence.

The Deputy Director of DAIP said there is a critical need for resources, surrounding domestic violence treatment.

A 24- hour record period was studied, for the entire country, and during that time, 66,000 people needed help.

And 10,000 were turned away due to maximum capacity being reached.

The Duluth location has been tackling this through a variety of resources, to help out men, women, and children.

Getting help can be as easy as reaching out.

“We all respond to this problem in a similar way. So professionals in our criminal justice community, child protection and then all the advocacy services in town all come together to find a way to respond to this, both victims and those who are causing the violence, so that we can both create safety for her, and a way for him, an opportunity for him to change what he’s doing,” said Scott Miller, Deputy Director of DAIP.

If you are looking to help support DAIP and other resources outlets, they’re always accepting both cash and clothing donations.
