Six Former Huskies Selected in 2025 MLB Draft
First off the board was former Huskies outfielder Brandon Compton.
DULUTH, Minn.- In recent years, the Duluth Huskies have helped a number of players make the jump to the big leagues.
Take Kristian Campbell for example, he spent the 2022 summer in the Twin Ports and then was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the 4th round of the 2023 MLB Draft.
Earlier this week, that trend continued with the 2025 Draft.
First off the board was former Huskies outfielder Brandon Compton. He went to the Miami Marlins in the 2nd round at pick number 46.
Compton suited up for Duluth in 2023 and had 13 home runs and 71 runs batted in.
One other former Husky went on day 1, that being 3rd baseman Murf Gray, who was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates with the 73rd pick.
Gray had a brieft stint for Duluth as he appeared in 3 games and had two RBI’s.
As for day two, four were taken off the board.
Right hander Lucas Kelly went to the Mariners in round six at pick number 182.
He appeared in four games over the course of the 2023 and 2024 summer.
Next to go was another right hander in J.D. McReynolds, who was picked by the Rangers in the 10th round.
McReynolds pitched in 10 games in the summer of 2022, striking out 20.
Then to round out Huskies drafted, both outfielder Cardell Thibodeaux and infielder Jonathan Vastine go to the Padres.
Thibodeaux went at pick number 490 in round 16 and Vastine was selected at 580 in round 19.
