Three Huskies Contribute to Great Plains Win at Northwoods League All-Star Game
Michael Smith Jr. and Ethan Surowiec both hit home runs for the Great Plains team.
MADISON, Wis.- As the rest of the team rests this week, three Duluth Huskies still had a game to play in.
That game being the Northwoods League All-Star Game.
Ethan Surowiec, Michael Smith Jr., and Parker Thomas all taking part.
After missing a home run by a few feet earlier in the contest, Surowiec sent the ball a little further in his 2nd at bat in the 4th with a homer that tied the game at 1.
In the 8th inning, Thomas worked his way out of a jam by stranding the go-ahead run at 3rd with a swinging strikeout.
Finally in the 9th, Smith Jr. crushed the go-ahead home run for the Great Plains to give the team the 3 to 2 win.
Smith Jr. also earned MVP honors for his efforts in the contest.
The Huskies return to action on Friday at the La Crosse Loggers.
