DULUTH, Min. – Governor Tim Walz has announced the retirement of the Honorable Eric L. Hylden.

He’s a judge in the Sixth Judicial District seated in Duluth.

Governor Walz is now asking for application for the vacancy.

A news release from the Governor’s Office says applications for the position are due by 4:00 pm on August 21, 2025.

The commission expects to hold interviews in mid-September.

Judge Hylden was appointed on March. 3, 2007 by Governor Tim Pawlenty.

He was then elected in 2008, 2014, and 2020.

Current term was slated to expire in January of 2027.

He is a past member of the Duluth Parks and Recreation Board.
