Superior City FC II Set to Clash with New Richmond in WPASL Finals
The last time the Wolfpack was in the title game was in 2021, which resulted in a runner-up finish.
SUPERIOR, Wis.- It’s been a season of firsts for the Superior City FC 2nd team.
This past Sunday, the Wolfpack played in their first-ever playoff match against West Metro FC and came away with the one to nothing victory.
Now, the team is on the verge of their first WPASL title.
Superior will clash with New Richmond on Sunday, a team they tied 1-1 back on June 14th.
Forward Kaden Bergman remembers that matchup well saying the Cyclones are a team that you can’t take lightly.
“We fell like we left a lot on the field the last time we played them. They do have one player who’s really strong, plays at St. Mary’s in Minnesota and you have to really watch him. If you give him any open space he’s going to score and he scored against us last game. I think we have a strong team overall. We have a lot of pieces that may be stronger than there’s. But, they are extremely dangerous. They just beat Hudson to get here and they beat Eau Claire earlier in the play-in game in playoffs. So they have quality players and if you don’t play them the right way, they will punish you,” said Bergman.
It’s been a long journey for the team to get to this point and head coach Cam Ross says playing freely has been a big reason of why they are where they are.
“One big thing is we try not to be too structured. Like I said, we have a lot of talent on this team and I want that talent to shine. If I try to hold them back too much or have them be too structured, they can lose some of that creativity. So I like giving the guys the creativity to do what they want on the field. Obivously, want to keep our shape and keep what we’re doing but I like having that creativity on the field,” said Ross.

Superior and New Richmond will clash at 3 PM on Sunday at Regis High School in Eau Claire.
