Superior Football Embracing All Out Competition in Camp

Superior opens the season two weeks from Thursday at Wausau West.

SUPERIOR, Wis.- It hasn’t been the results that the Superior football team has wanted in recent years.

But now as the team enters a new season, they’re confident they can make a step forward.

Tuesday, marked the beginning of year two for Spartans head coach Rob Scott as the team held their first practices of the season.

Coach Scott says he and his staff have been evaluating the roster since the end of last year.

They took into account what the players did in the weight room plus in other sports.

One things for certain though, every player has to earn their spot.

“We have a number of starters returning that we’re really excited about that have grown in the off-season. We have a number of younger guys that have not let them be comfortable and it’s going to be a competition. There may be kids that started last year that may not start this year. That’s what a competitive team looks like, where everyone has to be at their best and compete every day,” said Scott.

Senior safety Landon Anrig is one of those players that started last year. He shared what he thinks will help the team be successful this season.

“Competing with your position. Everybody else just giving your all each day. We just need to keep our attendance up with everyone showing up to practice and giving their all,” said Anrig.
