Knowing Your Neighbor: Jeremy Dickson And The Ectomobile
DULUTH, MINN- Jeremy Dickson is a man of many hats. He’s a retired volunteer firefighter, a local filmmaker, but you may know him as a Twin Ports Ghostbuster. Better known as the man behind the wheel of the Ectomobile. It all started with his love for the 80s movie, Ghostbusters; starring Bill Murry.
Dickson says, Ghostbusters was the first movie he saw in the movie theater as a child. Dickson then goes on to talk about his acts of service with his grandmother at a young age. Now at age 49, him and his team, the Twin Ports Ghostbusters do fundraising events to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House.
“I think it’s very important for families to be together while their children are sick.” Says, Dickson. His aunt stayed at the Ronald McDonald House when his cousin was fighting Leukemia at only six months old. After undergoing a surgery as a baby, his cousin is now 40 years old.
Twin Ports Ghostbusters appear at birthday parties and other local events. Everywhere they go, people get excited to see the Ectomobile; as seen from the Ghostbusters franchise. Dickson explained that, he bought the car from a man who lived in Canada. Dickson met up with him to finalize the purchase right before the previous owner, moved to Australia. After the trouble of getting the car over the U.S boarder and paying fees, the Ecto is seen all over the Twin Ports.
Dickson says, dressing up like Ghostbusters and spending the day with his best friends is a dream come true. Right now, he’s looking forward to working at the haunted shack. He may not be scared of no ghost, but he loves giving shack goers a run for his money. He plans on putting the car away in November for the winter. There’s still time to see the Ecto, if you haven’t already.
