Video: 4 Girls Rescued From Island By Helicopter Near Black Beach

SILVER BAY, Minn. — The U.S. Coast Guard released video of a water rescue involving four girls near Black Beach in Silver Bay.

The call for help came in around 8 p.m. Saturday.

Four juveniles between the ages of 8 and 14 paddled from Black Beach to a small island where they lost their paddles in the windy conditions and choppy waves.

The waves were so bad rescue boats struggled to safely remove the girls from the island.

So the Coast Guard sent in a helicopter from Traverse City, Michigan.

The crew arrived at 1 a.m. Sunday to safely transport the girls to their parents at the Silver Bay Fire Department.
