Sunday Evening Northland Forecast: 8/24/2025
Frost Advisory Overnight
It’s always a little shocking the first time in late summer, when we hear about cold temps on the way, or a chance for frost, or even SNOW? Well, we don’t have to worry about the fluffy, white stuff just yet. But, for overnight tonight, a Frost Advisory has been issued for Koochiching county, and the northern two-thirds of St. Louis, Lake and Cook counties, from 2am to 8am, early Monday morning. It does not include areas near Lake Superior (like, the Twin Ports), at least, not tonight, anyway. However, tomorrow night, a frost advisory could be issued for a bigger area, that will include the Twin Ports and parts of northern Wisconsin. That’s not a fact yet, but it’s looking like a possibility. Again, not as shocking as snow in the forecast, but it still gets your attention, doesn’t it?
A huge area of high pressure, sliding down from Canada, will dominate our weather all week. Fortunately, it will not bring smoke along with it, this time. Just cool air. The winds will be lighter starting tomorrow, and we will have abundant sunshine all week, with practically no chance for rain. Our highs will still only be in the 60s on Monday. But, we should then warm into the 70s for highs, all the way through Saturday. We will have partly to mostly sunny skies, for the entire week. The days continue to get shorter, of course, and a week from tomorrow is Labor Day. The kids are heading back to school, and the NFL regular season starts late next week. It is, indeed, time to turn the page of the calendar, and get ready for that long, slow slide all the way to Christmas. Goodness, that takes you by surprise!
So, cover up the plants tonight, and find a light jacket for heading out Monday morning. But, you won’t need that shovel in the corner of the garage…..yet!
