Duluth man arrested for threatening to shoot elementary school
UPDATE: Court documents say Neault was drinking at a bar near his house.
He told a person at the bar he was going to wait for the school to be empty and then shoot windows in the school.
He planned to shoot the windows to get news media attention to cover his story.
Court documents say he told people in the local bar to “watch the news”.
Upon learning of his alleged threats, Duluth Police then responded to Neault’s home.
Court documents say Neault told officers that he had a good story and repeated his claim that he was going to get news coverage by shooting windows of the school.
Officers found multiple weapons in the home along with hand written document.
The documents covered, “health, work ethic and a plan to go into the woods. The documents discussed weapons, military service and the Defendant being a trained killer.”
DULUTH, Minn. — A Duluth man has been arrested for threatening to shoot an elementary school.
According to officials, on Thursday at around 6 p.m. Police responded to reports that 72-year-old Richard Neault was threatening to shoot the windows of Laura MacArthur Elementary School.
Officials quickly responded to Neault’s home and arrested him.
A search warrant was executed on his home, and a shotgun and an SKS Assault Rifle, along with ammunition, were found.
Neault faces pending charges of threats of violence. Check back for updates.
