Cloquet man arrested for mail theft and forgery, 14 victims found
CARLTON COUNTY, Minn — A Cloquet man has been arrested for multiple cases of mail theft and check forgery around the Northland.
According to officials, after an investigation of reported mail theft where checks were stolen in Silver Brook Township, they learned that a man had
tried cashing one of the stolen checks in Cloquet.
Officials say they were able to identify and arrest the suspect, a 25-year-old male from Cloquet.
Upon further investigation, officials found evidence of 14 other victims from the Carlton, Wrenshall, Esko, and Cloquet areas.
The man is being charged with check forgery, possession or sale of stolen or counterfeit checks, mail theft, receiving stolen property, and 5th-degree possession of drugs.
According to officials, all of the thefts happened in the month of September, and they are currently in the process of contacting those involved.
